An exhaustive analysis of Fascist and Nazi organizations in the United States, together with personal descriptions of their leading spirits, is contained in the May 27 issue of the Saturday Evening Post in an article by Stanley High entitled “Star-Spangled Fascists.”
“America’s Fascists,” Mr. High declares, “are the ideological offspring of Hitler and National Socialism. Some of them frankly acknowledge it. Many of them admit only to an affinity. Most of them deny that they aim for a Nazi state. But in all of them, regardless of how much or how little they concede, the Nazi family features are too plain to be missed.”
The writer reports that the most authoritative study of the movement lists between 150 and 160 groups “whose Fascist leanings appear to be fairly clear, and which, by virtue of printing and mailing literature with some regularity, have a more than fly-by-night character.”
Current Nazi-inspired anti-Semitic movements in this country are being promoted as the nucleus of a totalitarian movement, it is asserted in an analysis of anti-Semitic activities by Norton Belth featuring the May-June issue of the Contemporary Jewish Record.
