The negotiations between Mapai, the party of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and the “Club of Four”–the Liberal Party, the National Religious Party, Mapam and Achdut Avodah–for the formation of a new coalition cabinet will reach their end on Friday when the five parties will meet probably for the last time.
Prospects for any results from the Friday meeting appeared more dim today than ever. The Club of Four remained adamant that Mapai should not have a majority in the next Cabinet while Mapai remained equally adamant for the same majority it has held in every Cabinet since Israel was established.
