The body of a well-dressed man, found in the Jewish cemetery, caused rumors which might have led to a ritual murder libel case if the police had not intervened in time.
The police identified the body as that of Alexander Loew, a Jewish jeweller, 40 years old, at one time court jeweller to the Austrian Kaiser. The police also established the fact that Loew had taken his life on the grave of his father, who committed suicide some time ago because his entire fortune of many millions, had been wiped out following the establishment of the Republic.
