Dr. Curt C. Silberman of West Orange, N.J., was today re-elected president of the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe at the organization’s annual meeting. The Federation, which is a cofounder of the Council of Jews from Germany, is actively involved in the field of restitution and indemnification, Dr. Silberman just returned from Europe where he addressed the Committee on Restitution of the West German Parliament on behalf of the Nazi victims residing in the United States.
Herbert Seeliger, who until his emigration from Germany in 1940 had been Secretary General of the Jewish Community of Berlin and member of the executive board of the National Council of Jews in Germany, has been appointed executive director of the American Federation of Jews from Central Europe, He succeeds Herman Muller, who has held the position of executive vice-president of the Federation for more than 20 years.
