Time will be sold at the cost of $11.00 per minute by the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies tomorrow when the drive to raise more than four million dollars for charity will come to a close.
A rally of the workers who have participated in the drive will be held tomorrow evening in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The affair which was arranged by Otto H. Kahn, Ernst Lubitsch and David Sarnoff, will be attended by 2,000 campaign workers and guests. The minutes will be sold at the approximate cost needed to meet expenses of the ninety-one affiliates of the Federation every minute of the day.
Boris Morros, executive chairman of the minute sale, together with Paul Adler and Benjamin Buttenwieser, chairman of the general Federation campaign, announced that the amount of money realized to date approximates $2,874,195. They sounded an appeal for financial aid.
The appeal praised the effort of the large number of volunteer workers who have cooperated with the Federation in the drive. It said that the resources of the Federation must be augmented in order to carry on the work of the year. A desperate winter faces many of the affiliates’ charges, the appeal stated, and aid must be forthcoming.
A last minute effort will be made to reach the goal set by the Federation campaign this afternoon when Mrs. Felix M. Warburg will be hostess to 300 women representing organizations not affiliated with the Federation. They will gather at her home, 1109 Park Avenue.
Mrs. Sidney C. Borg will join in the effort to marshall the resources of women of the city in aiding the campaign.
