In the report of the High Commissioner, on the Administration of Iraq, just published by the Colonial Office, a special paragraph dealing with the formation of the first provisional government refers to Sasun Effendi Haskail, the Minister of Finance.
The report says “He is a leading representative of the Jewish community of Baghdad, and commands universal respect and confidence. He had been a member of the Turkish Chamber since the constitution of 1908. and had also occupied the post of President of the Finance Committee.”
M. Sasun Effendi Haskail was a member of King Feisal’s cabinet, from which he resigned in March 1921.
