Jewish women interested in all phases of social service work were entertained Thursday afternoon at the Ambassador Hotel when Mrs. Simon W. Straus gave a reception for the Women’s Division of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, which is opening a drive for $1,250,000 on October 26. More than eighty hostesses assisted in receiving the guests who represented not only the 91 institutions supported by the Federation but also women whose pioneer work in humanitarian fields has made history in the social service annals of the city.
Miss Edna Ferber, Miss Zoe Beckley, Miss Fanny Hurst and Miss Sophie Irene Loeb were invited as guests of honor of the literary group and Mr. Felix M. Warburg, Chairman of the Business Men’s Council of Federation and Mr. Solomon Lowenstein, Executive Director, were speakers.
