Fervently Orthodox Jews recently demonstrated outside the French Embassy to protest a planned parking lot on the site of a Jewish cemetery in France. Organized by the Committee for the Preservation of Jewish Cemeteries in Europe, more than 100 demonstrators gathered Aug. 12 to hand in a letter to the embassy over fears that the graveyard in the town of Metz would be desecrated.
