Fewer immigrants were admitted to the United States during the fiscal year ended June 30 last than the previous year and fewer remained, according to Secretary of Labor Davis’ annual report.
During last year 500,631 were admitted as against 538,001 in 1927. Aliens who left during the year numbered 274,350, compared with 253,508 departures the previous year, a net gain of permanent immigrants of 242,275, compared with a net gain of 284,493 for 1927.
