A world conference of Jewish physicians was informed by Dr. Julius Brutzkus of Paris today that 10,000 of the world’s 50,000 Jewish doctors had been deprived of their livelihoods in recent years by discriminatory legislation.
The conference was attended by 30 delegates from Poland, Palestine, England, Belgium, Rumania, Hungary, France and other countries. It heard a report by Dr. Sherman, president of the Palestine Medical Association, on the position of Jewish doctors in various countries where anti-Jewish laws are in force. Dr. Sherman demanded admission of many more Jewish physicians to Palestine, either to carry on with their practice or to embark on new professions.
The conference discussed the question of developing Palestine’s medicinal springs and the construction of spas in various sections of the country.
