Hanoch Bartov’s “Each Had Six Wings,” the third and final production by Habimah during its current engagement in New York City opened last night to the praise of drama critics.
Critics said the performances were excellent. The Times critic declared that the play “presents us with an absorbing reflection of life in the new state, ” and that “the company is giving one of its best performances” of the current visit.
He praised Eva Lion as “winsome and moving,” Bat-Ami as “warm and loving,” Nissim Azikri as “splendidly hearty” and Shlomo Bar-Shavit as “comical.” The Herald-Tribune wrote in similar vein.
The Daily News cited the “excellent performances wrought under the guidance of director Avraham Ninio. Habimah is a fine company.” The New York Post said the piay was “filled with vivid character roles and all of them are played with warmth and richness.” The World Telegram said that “there is laughter and a few tears but for an artistic reaction that will match the intensity of its stimulus we will have to wait.”
