Joseph, Martin, Alex and Aaron Schechter were found guilty yesterday by a jury in United States District Court, Brooklyn, of violation of the NRA live poultry code. Judge Marcus B. Campbell will sentence the brothers next Wednesday.
Remaining behind locked doors for twenty-four hours, the jury returned convictions on nineteen out of thirty-three counts in the indictment. Included among the dismissed charges were alleged offenses against the labor, intimidation and unfit chickens’ clauses of the code.
The Schechter brothers, owners of two Brooklyn poultry slaughter houses, were released on $5,000 bail for Joe and Alex and $3,000 for Martin and Aaron.
