Efforts of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency’s correspondent here to verify reports of excesses in the Ukraine have been unavailing. Besides the official authorities, who stoutly deny all such reports, the correspondent interviewed S.Kovalsky, representative of the Joint Relief Committee in Kiev, who said that he had just returned from Southern Russia, where he neither saw nor heard anything of anti-Jewish excesses. Mr. Kovalsky said that he had seen everyone who might know if the reports were true, adding that it seems that the anti-Soviet press is digging up old stories.
