The entire press publishes a message from Chief Rabbi Simon Federbusch to Jewish soldiers in the Finnish Army declaring that “this fight of defense is based on the ideals of the Hebrew prophets.” Dr. Federbusch stressed the patriotism of Jewish youth and pointed out that numerous Jews had volunteered for front-line service. Recalling that the liberated Finland had granted equal rights to Jewish citizens, the message concluded by quoting Psalm 27, paragraphs one to three.
