The first four American students to be admitted to the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School have left for Jerusalem, it was announced jointly today by Dr. George S. Wise, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, and Mrs. Samuel J. Rosensohn, national president of Hadassah.
The admission of the American students to the Medical School was hailed in the joint statement by Mrs. Rosensohn and Dr, Wise as “an outstandingly significant development in a land as seriously in need of trained medical personnel as Israel. ” Since 1949, when the medical school was established formally by Hadassah and the Hebrew University on an instruction basis, it has graduated four classes, totaling approximately 200 students.
