The first direct flight from Israel to the U.S. began here last night when an El Al plane left Lydda airport for New York. Weekly flights between the two nations will be maintained until a regular schedule is set up. The El Al craft will fly to New York via Rome, Lisbon, the Azores, Newfoundland and New York. The planes used will be DC-4’s.
