The first complete translation of the Mishna, of all the books comprising the Palestinian Talmud, has just been completed by an English scholar, Dr. Herbert Danby, and Episcopalian Minister, and published by the Clarendom Press. The work is preceded by a voluminous introduction which gives a complete survey of the backgrounds and history of the Mishna with a detachment and bredth of outlook which do justice to the achievements of the Jewish spirit. The translation of the text is accompanied by scholarly footnotes, helpful to a better understanding of the text. The entire work is a valuable contribution toward a better understanding between Jew and Gentile and is particularly well fitted to remove from the minds of both Jews and Christians a host of current misconceptions about Rabbinism.
