The need for cooperation among various Jewish groups in the United States to raise the standards of synagogue music was emphasized at the first Institute on Jewish Liturgical Music held here under the auspices of the Society for the Advancement of Jewish Liturgical Music.
After considering reports on various problems of Jewish hymnal music in this country, the Institute agreed that it was desirable to arrange for the publication of leaser-known synagogues works. The conference also voted to set up a program to encourage the writing and presentation of new religious compositions.
