The first exhibition on contemporary Israel to be held in postwar Germany was opened yesterday by the founder and leader of the German “Peace With Israel” movement, Erich Lueth, in the presence of the deputy head of the Israel Purchasing Mission in Germany, Dr. Chaim Yahil.
Hundreds of photographs, made available by the Purchasing Mission, show Palestine in Biblical times and through the millenia, the Holy Places of Christendom, the impact of Zionism and the renascence of Hebrew, the Declaration of Independence and the War of Liberation. This leads up to a panoramic picture survey of Israel today–economic aspects, industrialization, agriculture, irrigation, housing, social and cultural institutions national and religious minorities, the step-by-step account of a new immigrant’s arrival and integration. Also displayed are statistical graphs and a complete collection of Israel stamps.
