The first Israel aircraft to touch down on German soil on a commercial flight landed here today as El Al, the Israel national airline, began a series of test flights to study the feasibility of such a service.
The run will be from Lydda, via Athens and Rome, and is designed primarily for the transportation of mail and urgently needed reparations items. The service, which should be in operation shortly, is planned as a weekly one. The plane which landed today was a Commando cargo plane.
