With the help of the Joint Distribution Committee, a Jewish credit cooperative, the first of the kind in Italy, has been formed to lend funds to Jewish refugees as well as to needy Italian Jews.
The first credits have already teen extended–to two physicians, two tailors, one watchmaker and two small tradesmen. The maximum amount for loans has been fixed at $5,000. The J.D.C. provided a capital of $50,000 and local sources supplied $6,500 in stock purchases.
