The first Judah L. Magnes Scholarship awarded by the Hebrew University has gone to a Haifa-born blind Arab student, the university announced today.
The student, Fereed Haj, is majoring in English and philosophy and plans to teach at an institute for the blind. The scholarship, worth 810 pounds a year, was established in honor of the late president of the University.
