The first Mayor of Jerusalem, Daniel Auster, deputy chairman of the board of governors of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Mrs. Louis S. Gimbel, Jr., chairman of the women’s division of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, received a proclamation today from Mayor Impellitteri at City Hall, designating November as “Hebrew University Month, ” in honor of Israel’s only university.
A resolution urging the Mayor to issue the proclamation was passed unanimously by the City Council last week under the joint sponsorship of the Vice President and Majority Leader of the Council, Joseph T. Sharkey, and Minority Leader Stanley M. Isaacs. The proclamation urged support of the University.
