The first group of Polish Jews to leave for Israel are slated to depart, via Italy, this week, it was reported here today.
At the same time, it was learned that the government has refused to grant its first two exit visas for Jews who wish to migrate to Israel. One of the men involved is a highly placed engineer in a state factory and the other is accused of having collaborated with the Nazis during the occupation. Meanwhile, about 40 visas are being issued daily to Jews.
