The 30 survivors of the men who first established the Hedera colony 50 years ago were presented with scrolls at a rally at the settlement today. After the rally, Menachem M. Ussishkin, 76-year-old president of the Jewish National Fund, and Moshe Smilanski joined in dancing the Hora on the platform.
Chairman Meirson of Hedera declared at the meeting that it was the privilege of the settlers to recall the glowing chapter of heroism marking Hedera’s founding “in this dark hour for the European Jews.” Among those attending the rally were Chief Rabbi Ben-Zion Usiel, Rabbi Meir Berlin, Eliezer Kaplan, representatives of the Palestine Government and of the British forces and notables from all over the country.
