The first shipment of books to be sent by the World Jewish Congress from the United States to Europe to help in the revival of Jewish oulture in war-torn countries is on its way to France, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, president of the congress announced today. The books are in Yiddish, Hebrew and French and will be distributed among Jewish organizations.
Dr. Wise said that similar shipments will be made by the congress to other countries including parts of North Africa where, he said, the level of Jewish culture since the war has dropped considerably.
