The first shipment of non-monetary gold and other valuables recovered from the Nazis has left Bremerhaven for the United States where it will be sold and the proceeds turned over to the International Refugee Organization for its relief program, it was announced by I.R.O. headquarters here.
The shipment represents about $1,000,000 worth of jewelry, china, ruge, postage stamps and various other articles, most of which the Nazis stole from Jews and which was later recovered by the American Army in various parts of Europe. Ninety percent of the proceeds will be devoted to Jewish relief and rehabilitation work.
