The first History of Zionism course offered at The City College of The City University of New York will be offered this Spring term, Prof. Marnin Feinstein, director of the school’s Jewish Studies Program, announced today. Prof, Feinstein, who is associate professor of Hebrew at The City College, and who will teach the new course, said enrollment for the new class had to be closed on the second day of registration when 45 students, the maximum permitted, enrolled for the class despite a lack of publicity or even a mention in the school bulletin listing courses available. He said another 45 students were turned away. A second new course, Archaeology of the Holy Land, will begin in the Fall 1971 semester. Both courses were approved by the University Administration shortly before the Fall semester ended. The Jewish Studies Program consists of 20 Hebrew courses, two Yiddish courses, three comparative literature, two on Jewish history, one on the government and politics of Israel and a seminar on the Middle East. It was started last September.
