He urged that Jewish students be persuaded not to flock to medicine in as large numbers as they do at present. He said the diversion of Jews from medicine is important as the only means of solving the problem. In the event medicine is socialized, Dr. Fishbein stated, conditions are certain to become much worse for the Jewish students and for the profession at large. Under socialized medicine, he pointed out, the politician will have the power of selection, and that, he believes, will make it much more difficult for a sufficient number of Jewish students to enter medical schools.
