A Superior Court jury convicted five California members of the American Nazi party yesterday of assaulting participants in a Salute to Israel rally at the Shrine auditorium here last April 28.
The jury returned the verdict after three-and-a-half days of deliberations and Judge Herbert Walker set December 3 for sentencing. The five Nazis faced penalties of one to ten years in prison.
Party members picketed the meeting, displaying anti-Semitic signs. Rioting developed in which several persons were hurt. The fire convicted Nazis were Leonard Hoistein, 22, Highland Park; Marvin Reeves, 24, and Clifford J. Huss, 20, Lawndale; William Krauss, 21, Redondo Beach; and Lyle McLaughlin 20, Los Angeles.
