New York Police were today looking for five boys aged between 7 and 12 who caused $3, 000 worth of damage when they desecrated a synagogue in the Bronx late Friday afternoon, just before Sabbath Eve services.
The vandals tore several Torah Scrolls and strewed the floor of Temple Yeshiva Rabbi Israel Salanter with torn prayer books, prayer shawls and sacramental wine. Ephraim S. Berger, president of the congregation, who was just entering the synagogue at the time, was knocked down by the boys as they ran out and escaped.
