Five Israeli Soldiers Wounded in Suez Canal and West Bank Clashes

Five Israeli soldiers were slightly injured today in the Suez Canal zone and south of Hebron. Three of them were hurt when an Army vehicle was attacked In the Hebron area. The fire was returned and a search was made for the attackers. Two others were wounded when Egyptian troops opened fire in the Bitter Lake area. Return fire silenced the Egyptian guns.

Several rockets, apparently from a Katyusha launcher, were fired at Nahal Golan last night from Jordanian territory bordering on the Golan Heights. The fire was returned and no casualties or damage was sustained, a military spokesman said. Israeli soldiers discovered and dismantled several mines and explosive charges planted during the night around Shetullim, apparently by saboteurs from across the nearby Lebanese border. The explosives were found near a water reservoir and on roads leading to the settlement.
