Five Jewish candidates have been named to represent the Jewish population of Rumania as such in a list of candidates of the “Front of Popular Democracy” (government bloc), made public here today. These five are in addition to a number of other Jewish candidates named by the various parties in the forthcoming election on March 28.
Two of the official Jewish candidates will run in Bucharest–Professor Maximilian Popper, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities and H. Leibovice, anther communal leader. The three largest Jewish communities outside of Bucharest–Jassy, Timisoara and Bacau–have nominated the following three Jewish leaders: B. Feldmann, Marcel Fisler and Eduard Manolescu. None of the five candidates is a Zionist.
