The West German public prosecutor was disclosed today to have instituted proceedings against “unknown persons” in connection with the death in Cairo of five persons killed and seven severely injured in Cairo from explosives sent to West German scientists working there.
The injuries and deaths occurred when parcels addressed to the scientists exploded on opening. Two parcels and a letter were received in Cairo from a Hamburg mailing address. The letter reportedly was addressed to Dr. Wolfgang Pilz, a West German rocket expert who disappeared from Munich last year.
A German woman secretary in Cairo lost an eye when she opened a letter addressed to one of the German rocket experts working for the Egyptian Government.
