Representative Samuel Dickstein, member of the Congressional committee investigating the spread of Nazi and other propaganda in the United States, at a secret hearing held in the Bar Association Building Friday, questioned five men in connection with their joint membership in the New York National Guard and the Stahlhelm.
The latter organization, it was disclosed at a recent hearing held in Washington, is engaged in drilling its cohorts with imported arms. An undetermined percentage of its membership was revealed as utilizing the facilities of the National Guard for unlawful propaganda and military purposes. One of the five men was seen to possess National Guard membership papers.
A woman whose name cannot be disclosed, was overheard speaking in German about her relations with the German consulate, also testified.
