The Flarbush Division of the United Palestine Appeal raised $20,000 of its $75,000 quota at a dinner at the Hotel Astor on Wednesday night. Four hundred and fifty attended the dinner.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann was the principal speaker.
Judge William M. Lewis, national chairman of the United Palestine Appeai. declared that “What the Jews of Greater New York do in the campaign for $2,500,000 will have wide-spread echoes in America. in Palestine and in Jewish communities throughout the world.”
Supreme Conrt Justiee Mitchell May, who is the chairman of the Brooklyn Drvisions of the United Palestine Appeal. declared that “every Jew is obligated to stand fiat-footedly and enthusi astically behind the movement for rebuilding the Jewish Homeland in Palestine.”
Others who addressed the gathering were Max Kiss. honorary chairman of the Flatbush campaign: Albert D. Schanter. chairman: Julius Nelson, chairman of the dinner committee. and Kabbi A. M. Heller of the Flatbush Jewish Center.
The list of donors towards the Flatbush quota is headed by Israel Matz, with a contribution of $3,500. Among the other contributors are Joseph Pines. $1,500: Emanuel Lieberman and Isaac Muss. $1,000 each; Joseph Weiss and Max Kiss, $500 each.
