The Royal Air Force headquarters today reported that a synagogue built of gasoline tin cans and tent canvas has been erected by Jewish fliers of the British Army in the western desert. The synagogue was presented this week with a Sefer Torah on the occasion of the first anniversary of its existence.
Many of the airmen in the desert force are refugees from Germany who volunteered for Palestine units of the British forces. They are now engaged in studying the principles of gliders and are building gliders in the desert.
