Florida issued subpoenas last Friday to 40 insurance companies that state officials say have not turned over records on unpaid Holocaust-era claims. An estimated 15,000 survivors are believed to be living in Florida, and state officials have played an active public role in efforts to settle what may be billions of dollars in survivors’ insurance claims worldwide.
