Laymen and Rabbis to Stimulate Interest at Rallies (Jewish Daily Bulletin)
A “flying squadron” will tour the United States in an effort to increase the income to meet the budgetary needs of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
One hundred and sixty-four prominent laymen and Rabbis will compose the flying squadron which will tour the United States during the month of November. David A. Brown, chairman of the Board of Finance, will head the group. Two hundred and seventy-nine mass meetings are being planned in as many Reform synagogues. Cooperating with Mr. Brown will be the Alumni Association of the Hebrew Union College, which is maintained by the Union.
A minimum budget of $513,000 is needed to take care of the religious activities of the Union and its affiliated bodies for the current year. Of this sum $280,250 is set aside for the work of the Hebrew Union College. The Department of Synagogue and School Extension requires $103,731. The budgets of the other departments include $69,178 for the work of the Executive Board, $14,345 for the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, $11,759 for the National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods, $28,433 for the New York Committee for School Extension.
