For the first time in the history of the State, the government and the Jewish Agency have agreed to cooperate in strengthening diaspora Jewish education, Education Minister Zevulun Hammer announced. He said that “the government and the Jewish Agency have established a joint fund of $10 million a year to carry out the policy.” A team of experts comprising Education Ministry and Jewish Agency representatives has drafted a working plan to focus on teachers, pupils, Jewish communities and curricula. Adult and informal education programs were also being planned, Hammer said.
