In a press statement endorsing Wendell L. Willkie, Republican presidential candidate, Henry Ford yesterday condemned racial and religious prejudice in the United States. The automobile magnate said:
“I was strongly attracted toward Mr. Willkie by what he said in his acceptance speech about his disapproval of all forms of intolerance, for I believe in helping oppressed peoples. I believe all people were put on this earth for a definite purpose. Class divisions and racial or religious prejudices have been too much encouraged in this country.”
