The Prussian Government has agreed, the J.T.A. understands, to give foreign Jews living in Germany the right to vote in the elections to the Jewish Communities in Prussia under the new Jewish Communities Law and to stand for election to the Jewish Communities.
With the exception of the clause depriving Jews who are not German citizens of the right to elect and be elected to the Jewish Communities, the new Jewish Communities Bill drafted by the Prussian Government has the full support of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Prussia, but on this point it was adament, and had announced its intention of fighting the Government by bringing up the matter in the Prussian Parliament. The Government’s withdrawal of the ban on foreign Jews removes all Jewish opposition to the Government measure, which replaces the fourteen different Jew-laws that at present regulate the affairs of the Jewish Communities in the various parts of Prussia by one unified Jewish Communities Law.
