The Israel United Appeal of South Africa was launched here by Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett who arrived in this country a week ago on a good will visit to the South African Jewish community. The I.U.A. drive was launched at a dinner in honor of the Israel Minister.
At a banquet sponsored by the S.A. Zionist Federation, at which he was also the guest of honor, Mr. Sharett paid high tribute to the assistance given Israel by South African Jews. Among the South African Jews who are serving Israel now he listed Aubrey S. Eban, U.N. delegate and newly-appointed Ambassador to Washington; Arthur Lourie, consul-general in New York; Michael Comany, of the Foreign Ministry; Louis Pincus of the Transport Ministry; and, Harry Levine, Minister to Australia.
