Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami criticized the closure Israel imposed on the West Bank and Gaza Strip to deal with the ongoing Palestinian violence, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. Calling it “economic strangulation” of the Palestinians, Ben-Ami said at a Cabinet meeting that the closure does not contribute to Israel’s security.
