The Foreign Ministers of the states belonging to the Arab League started a special conference at Baghdad, Iraq, yesterday, with the major portion of the agenda devoted to “the Israel question. ” For the first time in more than two years, Tunisia has joined such a conference, Tunisia has been boycotting the Arab League since 1958.
Among the Israeli items on the conference agenda are: fears of Israel’s increasing economic penetration of Africa; apprehension about Israel’s alleged “intention and ability” to construct an atom bomb; action on reported French aid to Israel’s nuclear program; about Israel’s alleged plans to “divert” the waters of the Jordan River; and the question of Israel’s oil supplies.
