A forest named in honor of Ambassador Avraham Harman, Israel’s envoy to Washington, was planted yesterday inside the John F. Kennedy Forest, near Jerusalem. The Avraham Harman Forest had been contributed by the Bnai Zion, a Zionist fraternal order in the United States.
Among the participants in the ceremonies were Walworth Barbour, United States Ambassador to Israel; Mrs. Golda Meir, who had just retired from her post as Israel’s Foreign Minister; and David Harman, a son of the Ambassador, who thanked Bnai Zion for the honor bestowed upon his father. Addresses were delivered by Mrs. Meir. Dr. Harris J. Levine, of New York, honorary chairman of Bnai Zion; Edward Sharf, president of the order; and Yaacov Tsur, chairman of the Jewish National Fund.
