A committee of private citizens was formed here for the purpose of organizing the legal defense of Sholom Schwartzbard, who shot Petlura, leader of the Ukrainian pogrom bands.
M. Mollard, prefect of the Odeon district, is the examining magistrate conducting the investigation of Schwartzbard’s case.
The Jewish Relief Committee of Paris made known the fact that Schwartzbard asked the committee to intrust to him an orphan of the Ukrainian pogroms. Schwartzbard made this request in 1921, offiering to educate the orphan.
The burial of Petlura will be held on Sunday in the Montparnasse a cometery.
