Ragheb Nashashibi, former mayor of Jerusalem, who is now in Europe, will arrive in Israel soon to head the Arabs in Israel in the forthcoming national elections, it was reliably reported here today. The return of Nashashibi to Israel would give the Arabs in the Jewish state a prominent leader, The Nashashibi family has always been strongly opposed to the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem.
An Israeli Government spokesman today described a statement issued last week by the Syrian legation in Washington denying published reports that Druses were fighting with the Israeli Army as “just as true as the Egyptian claim that they had recaptured Beersheba.”
