The return of Nashashibi to Israel would give the Arabs in the Jewish state a prominent leader, The Nashashibi family has always been strongly opposed to the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem.
An Israeli Government spokesman today described a statement issued last week by the Syrian legation in Washington denying published reports that Druses were fighting with the Israeli Army as “just as true as the Egyptian claim that they had recaptured Beersheba.”
Replying to correspondents’ questions today, an Israeli Government spokesman said that “British planes have been sold and given to Arab forces both during the fighting period and during the truce,”
