A memorial service for the late Charles H. Jordan, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee who died mysteriously last month during a vacation visit to Prague, was held in the Synagogue of Geneva today.
Dr. Alexander Safran, the chief rabbi, said a prayer for the late JDC official. The cantor recited Psalms and El Mole Rachamin, one of the traditional prayers for the dead. Kaddish was recited by Theodor Feder, deputy director general of the JDC. Eulogies were delivered also by Mordecai Kidron, Israel Ambassador to the United Nations office in Geneva; James L. Carlin, chief of the refugee and migration section of the permanent United States Mission to the international organizations here; Dr. Michael Potulicki, secretary-general of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies, of which Mr. Jordan had been president; and Herbert Katzki, deputy director general of the JDC. The ceremonies, held in connection with afternoon Mincha prayers, were attended by a large group of officials of international organizations and Geneva authorities.
