Dr. David Prato, former Chief Rabbi fo Rome, from where he was expelled following the introduction of Mussolini’s anti-Jewish laws, has been recalled to the Italian capital, it is learned here today.
Dr. Prato, who was also chief rabbi of Alexandria at one time, has been living in retirement in Tel Aviv. It is assumed that he will take over the post vacated by Israel Zolli, the former chief rabbi of Rome who became converted to Catholicism a few months ago.
